The Myth of "Bouncing Back", and Why I’m Choosing to Restore, Not Rush

Updated: May 5

There’s this thing people say after a hard season, "You'll bounce back. You'll be back to normal in no time."

And for a long time, I bought into it.

After a flare, after a launch that didn’t hit like I hoped, after a week where life dragged me across the finish line by my ponytail, I used to rush the recovery.

Push harder.

Power through.

Force the “bounce.”

But here’s the real truth I’m sitting with now: I don’t want to bounce back.

Not to the burnout.

Not to the frantic hustle.

Not to the version of me that thought survival mode was some kind of badge of honor.

Right now, I’m choosing something different.

I’m choosing to Restore.

Restore = honoring the fact that healing isn’t linear.

Restore = building back softer, smarter, and slower.

Restore = trusting that growth happens in the quiet, not just in the hustle.

And damn, it feels weird sometimes.

Sitting still when the world is screaming "keep moving!"

Letting rest be the work.

Not feeling guilty for rebuilding at a human pace.

But you know what?

Every system I create now? Every Life System, every tool, every tiny shift has to pass one simple test:

Does this support my restoration, or does it sabotage it?

Because here's the thing:

  • I don’t need a planner that shames me when I’m tired.

  • I don’t need routines that only work when I’m at 100%.

  • I don’t need systems that expect me to bounce when what I really need is to breathe.

I need systems that hug me back.

And maybe you do too.

If you’re in a season where you’re tired of "bouncing back" and ready to restore instead, I've got some tools that were literally born from that exact moment.

No pressure. No perfect plans. Just real-life support for real-life humans.

OR

You deserve systems that leave space for your humanity. You deserve to restore, not rush.

So this week, if you’re feeling behind, you’re not.

You’re rebuilding. And that’s a hell of a lot stronger than bouncing.

Which season are you in right now? Reflecting? Restoring? Something else? I'd love to hear. Hit reply and tell me.

(And if you need a permission slip to slow the hell down? Consider this it.)
